BIOGRAPHY

Tomi Tsunoda is a NYC-based theater artist and educator. She is head of the Devised Theater Program at NYU/Tisch's Playwrights Horizons Theater School, and teaches directing at Vassar College's Powerhouse Apprentice Program. Tomi has been a member of the International Soundpainting Think Tank since its inception in 1998, and has been pioneering the use of Soundpainting in American theater since 2002. She was the co-founder of multiple arts production and theater community organizations, such as Brooklyn Soundpainting Company, Breeingground Productions, The Off-Off-Broadway Community Dish, and Directors Eye. Her performance projects have been showcased at venues throughout New York City, including LaMama, Lincoln Center Institute, Ensemble Studio Theater, and Brooklyn Museum, and she has collaborated with a wide range of performing artists from France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Lebanon.
